Richard Gürtler It looks like this guy doesn't follow any rules, he simply seeks for his own path and even if this style is not exactly my fave type of ambient-driven soundsculpting, "Between The Days" is a very fruitful recording filled with huge dose of emotions and creativity. Bizarrely flavored, yes, but always enthralling, that's "Between The Days"!!! Without any doubt a very strong debut work, congratulations, Ivan!!!

about

Between the days is a result of a half year midnight improvisations with guitars and synths. All the parts of songs were created on low (almost silent) volume and also were mixed at same levels. I hope that album will give you the same feelings that I had while recording it.

Each track has a main melody, texture or field recordings scape which create and give a listener an atmosphere of “feeling the moment”.

“Flashback voices” describes a moment of headache when annoying memories return on and on.

“Night at port” is a track about greatful pleasure of evening loneliness.

“Kolomyazhsky” describes the feeling of observer who is looking from the top at miryads of yellow and red lights of avenue.

“The tale of time lost” describes the feeling of an adult reading children’s book.

“Afterglow” and “When the rails are not alone” are about past feelings on memorable moments in my life.

And only “Butterfly day” is a promt to create track with positive atmosphere and at the same time several attempts to recreate sound of crocket via analog synth.

Between the days album music is not that close to traditional 15-20 minutes relaxing ambient soundscenes. It’s more industrial, more about human senses, this is a music of thoughts and moods.
Not only me but also my friends were involved in a process of preparing the album. Alexander Tarakanov from russian band Verticals played drone guitar riffs on “Afterglow”. He also created a beautiful melody for “Kolomyazhsky”. Ekaterina Topal created a great album cover which represents 5 days of brainstorming “how the album should look like”. This album is all about do-it-yourself-or-ask-friends-for-help except for mastering from Taylor Deupree who helped with studio quality standards of production and saved the atmosphere of album.
